TITTLE: The Wrong Inequality
By DAVID BROOKS
Published: October 31, 2011

According to David Brooks’ article “The Wrong Inequality” on New York Time, there are two kinds of inequality in America: Blue inequality and Red inequality. The Blue inequality focuses on social class divided base on money income, one percent of the population is wealthy and ninety nine percent of the nation is not so much. In the big cities, the services are mainly for the wealthy population which composes of highly skill workers. The top one percent has much higher income than the rest of the population. The second form of inequality is Red inequality; this inequality is about social class divided base on the education. The article stated that college graduates have a better chance to get marry, less likely to get divorced, have good social relationship, more trust from the society, less likely addict to cigarette and their off-springs have a good chance to attend college. The family structure of college graduate is different than high school graduates’ family structure and the number of college graduate increase every year. Most people more focuses on Blue inequality because the protesters and media people usually live where the difference between one percent and ninety nine percent shows clearly and majority of people believes their problem was caused by the top wealthy people, not their family’s structure or their education. In fact, the main problem is the number of people who drop out of college, children in the poor family which wasted the human capital, create chaos in society and slow down the nation grow.
Responding: I do agree with the article, however I do not call it inequality.  The college graduates have better jobs, social status and relationship because they invest more time, money and effort in their education than those who graduate from high school. Many people will say they do not have finance advantages but for me, it is just an excuse because number of college graduate increase every year and schools have many kind of scholarship and loans for student. There is no inequality in this case, like many people said “You reap what you sow.”
