TITTLE: Tackling Infant Mortality Rates Among Blacks

Published: October 14, 2011

Summary: America is facing a serious problem that has not been published yet as other social issues; rather; they’re practically hiding this problem- a large number of babies are dying at an early age, but the strangest data is that studies showed clearly that: black babies are more prone to die than white babies. Even though studies have tried to figure out the causes of this alarming situation, social problems, such as education or economy, aren’t enough to justify the different racial rates.Studies are still working in it and trying to decipher the incognita, but they’re having a hard time, thanks that there a lot of factors to bear in mind.A probable cause is referring to the health care access differences between black and white women. There are persons who blames black woman because they are not asking help for prenatal care. An important medic said that this problem is a social and not a medic problem based in the fact that black woman have said that they’re afraid of asking for prenatal care because of the racial inequality; In other words, they’re afraid of being treated badly at the hospital or when asking help because of their race.

Response: I think that even though United States has struggled against racial inequality for hundreds of years, this problem is still in force and I disagree what some people in this article say about that black women are to blame of this issue, but I agree with the medic that says that it’s an social issue, even though one have to take care when one is pregnant, I understand that white people are more free to ask for help and go to hospitals and receive the help they need than black women and nobody neither black women are to blame of this unfair and sad situation but the society.
