SUMMARY:

According to the Morgan Smith’s article “Online Educators Gain Both Classes and Critics” on New York Times, U.S. education category, 20-year-old Will Clarkston finds difficult in paying attention to school because he cannot concentrate to classes due to his illness. Though he can graduate from a public high school, he is not prepared to go to college. However, thanks to the online courses, even though he does not come to class, he still can ask teachers as in real school. Mr. Clarkson plans to attend community college and sure he will succeed in his business.

Online classes offer chances for students to take course further their limited condition, for students who are disable to school like Mr. Clarkson. It can support important complement or alleviative help that real schools might not offer.

However, public schools are struggling with how to put online instruction to the most effectiveness to their classrooms. They have to deal with lots of obstacles from community and state laws meanwhile the number of students study online classes is increasing.

Some educators want more proof that virtual courses actually works, so they doubt in analyzing the processing involvement. There are types of companies that produce most of the curriculum that students use in online classes. The problem is they are into it for the money or for the students.

Though Texas has the second-largest school-age population of any state and an operated virtual school network since a long time, it is still delayed in online class-registration. In order to preventing monetary management, the Legislature passed a series of laws that barrier for sharing education between districts and financial mechanism in each area. Therefore, the online education would be in charge strictly to avoid such thing as turnkey.

RESPONSE:

In my opinion, online education and traditional education both have its own advantage and disadvantage. One may have thing that the other does not. However, online instruction is still creating its own image right now. Look back to the history of American education. I can see lots of pride in mechanism and management in education. United Nation is very careful in how forming and teaching knowledge. Education is future investment not a business. Therefore, there must be close method in managing the education. I think online education is a good opportunity for students who want to be advanced and overcame their circumstances. Though online education must be considered how to be convenient and active involve with traditional education as parallel.
